Haida Gwaii Fishing Charters
Your day on the water starts at the harbour of Masset with a scenic ride through Masset Inlet where you can observe black
bears, bald eagles, river otters and Sitka Blacktail deer forage in their natural habitat.
It is not uncommon to encounter humpback whales and orcas on our fishing trips to the northend of Haida Gwaii on the hunt forall five species of Salmon but Chinook/Spring (King) Salmon,
Coho (Silver) Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod and Rockfish are the main target.
We also will set some crabpots to harvest delicious dungeness crab for your dinner.....

The boat is equipped with all the required Canadian Coast Guard certified safety features such as fire extinguisher, life jackets, flares, signal horn, survival suits and jackets, VHF Radio,
first aid kit, Garmin chart plotter\GPS and fishfinder, Sony action cam, etc..
We do expect all of our guests to follow good judgment and follow Captain Mayr’s instructions at all times.
Personal floatation devices must be worn at all times on the water to ensure your safety.
Fishing is, and should always be, a fun and safe experience on the water.

You will be using Daiwa Convergence rods with top of the line reels spooled with Maxima Ultra green line.
We fish Scottie electric downriggers using bait (brined anchovie & herring), spoons, hoochies, flashers & plugs depending on such factors as the fishing conditions, the type of
salmon being targeted and the experience of the guest.
On the run out to the fishing grounds Captain Mayr will provide expert instruction on the techniques used to set the hook, playing the fish and how to successfully land big spring salmon some over 30
pounds called Tyee´s.
Another fun fish to catch are black bass which can be caught on light tackle such as fly fishing and spin casting rods and you are more then welcome to bring your own rods and reels...
We will provide you with bait & plenty of ice for your catch in our built-in fish hold.
For the trip you should bring your own rain gear, polarized glasses, protective hat, sun-visor, sun screen and warm clothes. You may also make advance arrangements with our local restaurants to provide you with gourmet meals at an additional cost.
Your Catch will be cleaned and put on ice in the hold quickly by Captain Mayr to maintain the highest quality so that upon our return to port it can be flash frozen and processed to “Sushi Grade” by CBI Processing Plant, vacuum packed and boxed for shipment at a small charge.
